MOREGathered – Humans have always striven to free themselves from nature. The history of philosophy is a story of reflections on this tragic effort. Approaching new technological limits, we have found ourselves in new contradictions. Humans have never before been so distant from nature, yet nature has never been a greater threat for humans as a species. It seems the survival of our civilisation is now about intimate choices of its individual members.The idea of a web project was to discuss humanity's dilemmas through face-to-face chats. The aim was not to help alleviate feelings of loneliness, but to raise awareness about a community of modern-day hermits. We have thus invited some remarkable artists, scientists and philosophers to think aloud in a way only good friends can: by evoking thoughts that lie dormant in every one of us without patronising or fawning over us.
