The video is part of the project entitled From 1.5 to COLLI 6.66’ created at the art residency between Izola and Bologna during the coronavirus epidemic. It was presented at the international exhibition TRK at the Salsaverde Gallery.
Sunflower is a video performance without an audience, shot on the seashore. The author stands on daily newspapers and in her hands holds a communication tools in her hands – two 1.5 m long sticks made of wood found on the shore. Felt-tip pens are attached to the tips of the sticks and with them she draws circles on the newspaper base. Her movement is meditative and repetitive. The sticks appear as interfaces that make it difficult to communicate with the world.
With her performance, the artist illustrates the limitations of movement, close contacts and isolation during the epidemic. By drawing marks on daily newspapers that bring scary news about the spread of the virus, she creates her own safe area, and places herself in a specific space and time. (Source: DIVA Station)
