Luka Dekleva (1976) (1976) works as a photographer and video artist. After finishing his M.A. studies in still photography at FAMU in Prague, he started exploring the moving image. He is a member of the Codeep, a cultural association established in 2001 to explore fields of contemporary visual communication, electronic music and urban performance. He has conducted video workshops and seminars and participated in several important exhibitions and festivals, including Ars Electronica. He teaches photography and creative media at the School of Arts, University of Nova Gorica. He was drown in by the inherent noise that is inevitably a constant follower and the unpredictability of its nature. Noise as a side product of the basic signal carriers for audio/visual information presents possibilities for systematic abuse. System instability in this case becomes the source for consecutive manipulation with a conscious concern for the importance of visual output and used technology. A temporary syntax emerges that is raw in its nature but formal in its aesthetics. A mathematical loophole, an endless process where every new result is at the same time a source of further calculations. Instability is a source and technology becomes involved as an operator in the creative process. His work has been described as both minimalist and elegant, experimental and at the same time consistent. Various videos on these pages show collaborative works, where audio and video signals were being analysed and transformed. Variables of both processes were exposed to data generated by basic properties of sound and moving image.
