Marko A. Kovačič - Song of Flesh and Image Was Made Body (00:15:56)
Production: ŠKUC - Forum / koprodukcija Marijan Osole - Max, 1985
The story of the narrative is based on the genre of crime fiction. The images are filled with citations from the history of art and cinema (Man Ray, Sergei Eisenstein) and are further stratified and multiplied. The dynamics of the image fraught with typical cinematic suspense is matched with the music full of suspense (Bernard Herrmann). (Source: DIVA)

Jasna Hribernik - Ballabende (00:21:46)
Production: TV Slovenija, 1995
At first glance the video works as a research of the past. An expressive study set in a nostalgic landscape takes music and dance as its medium. The protagonist is a dancer and the set is an old house full of memories. Scenes of ballet dancing and piano playing are combined with shots of old photographs due to associative montage. Passing of time is emphasized by scenes of water overflowing a well and of running clouds. Spirit of the past is strengthen by editing with shadows and sepia filter. This idyllic...

Jasna Hribernik - Carte Postale (06:32)
Production: TV Slovenija, 1997
By layering of pictures the artist succeded in simultaneously presenting the past and the present. Destruction of a house represents the present, and fragments from letters written by people who used to live in the house represent the past. An off-screen voice reads the letters, but the sounds soon become unintelligible - for who gives us the right to rummage through the intimacies of these anonymous people? Anonymous they shall remain. For a moment we even see their faces in photographs, but these photogra...

Marko A. Kovačič - No More Heroes Any More (0:18:15)
Production: V.S. VIDEO/Forum Ljubljana, 1992
Video deals with the theme of war in a parodic and grotesque manner. With Chroma key procedure the two main protagonists or shall we say antagonists - evil and conniving political leaders are set inside a TV studio, where so called Royal game takes place. War battle metaphorically packed as a twisted game of chess, which sees real people as toys in the hands of malicious and greedy politics, is getting more and more insane and uncontrollable. Performative character of the video allows the actors to exaggera...

Andrej Lupinc - V 8. minutah okoli sveta / In 8 Minutes around the World (00:09:38)
Production: TV Slovenija, filmski laboratorij, 1990-2000
The documentary video patchwork with shots from various places in the world that the author visited while working as a cameraman at Slovenian national TV station in the span of ten years. Diversity of aesthetics is visible through a compilation of shots from different continents. A stable rhythm that runs through the whole video unifies all different scenes and brakes the seeming symbolic differences. The video would work as an ideal visualisation of Levi-Strauss's anthropological theory developed in h...

Damijan Kracina - Točka nič / Point Zero (00:02:07)
Production: 1996
The video consists of three parallel strips showing the same footage in different time frames. It seems that we are following a video of the countryside shot from a moving car. The upper and lower strips follow the same timeline, while the strip in the centre is of the same footage, but on rewind. In the central strip, the video slows down. Both timelines meet, which is indicated by a red line, which merges and draw the point zero.

Nataša Prosenc Stearns - Dvojnik / A Double (0:03:25)
Production: TV Slovenija, 1995
The idea of time connects with the image inherent in video, the encrustation of the picture, which allows for the free exchange of images from different worlds and periods. The double silhouette of a person delineates two time segments: the passing of daily life, and nocturnal fireworks. Both worlds pass from one shape to another, until they finally freeze into what they actually represent: a human statue.

Nataša Prosenc Stearns - Čas? / Time? (0:01:18 in 0:01:17, na št. 69 0:01:18)
Production: TV Slovenija, 1990
The repeated use of a media image gives it the status of stereotype - in this case a clock announcing the beginning of the television news. The artist wishes to undermine the 'freezing' of the stereotypical media image; she transforms it and thus reinstates time in its natural and constant flow. The concept and form of the work are characterised by irony. (VD)

Miha Vipotnik - Video 8 Sketch Tape No. 3 (01:25)
Production: CalArts, 1988
The mechanical measurement of time presented by a non-functioning clock is the background for the circling of the camera, and thus for the measuring of time. Noises of hammering and of editing procedures are heard in the background. The circling of the camera rhythmically cuts the frozen image. The suspense is growing and the image changes into a female body with the sounds from the background. A movement of the prone body, like the stretching of a ballerina's legs, gives the impression of lightness, which...
