Back2Back is a series of events where we invite local and international authors to present their production and establish a dialogue with works of their choice from the DIVA Station archive. The third of the four programmes of Neven Korda's film/video oeuvre screenings presents the creative tandem he and Zemira Alajbegović formed in the 1990s, which materialized in 1998 as the ZANK Institute. Video films The Sand Collectors (1995), Autobus (1993) and Intolerance (1991) will be screened at Slovenian Cinematheque. After the screening at the Slovenian Cinematheque, curator of the programme Robert Kuret will talk to Neven Korda.

The second of the four programmes of Neven Korda's film/video oeuvre ’80-’10 screenings is dedicated to the Borghesia group (Zemira Alajbegović, Goran Devide, Aldo Ivančić, Neven Korda, Dario Seraval), which grew out of the activities and production of the FV conglomerate, released the videocassette So Young (Tako mladi) in 1985, which was the first VHS compilation of music videos in the former Yugoslavia. The band’s goal was to create music and establish a multimedia expression in which the video image played a key role. After the screening at the Slovenian Cinematheque, curator of the programme Robert Kuret will talk to Neven Korda.

Neven Korda is an artist who has contributed significantly to developing video as a new medium. He creatively expressed himself through various periods, experimenting with the expressive possibilities of media that produced video. Unknown Land. Screening of film/video oeuvre ’80-’10 of Korda’s works will be organized into four programmatic strands (between January and April), which follow the development of his creativity, each linked to a specific historical, production, genre, and collaborative context. Except for his last period of filmmaking, Neven Korda has been a part of various collectives where authorship has been declared joint. Curator: Robert Kuret, co-production: SCCA-Ljubljana/DIVA Station and Slovenian Cinematheque.
The programme is eclectic, featuring 1980s and early 1990s material. The films presented in this programme tend towards the documentary form, recording the scene of the FV conglomerate and relating to the end of the shared state in the context of the emerging alternative television A-TV. More

In cooperation with Slovenian Cinematheque, SCCA-Ljubljana is hosting Alexandra Halkin, a director, producer, film curator and writer from Chicago, USA. In her lecture on 11 January 2024, she will present her work and the beginnings of cooperation with Zapatista communities, as well as the creation of the bi-national cooperation Chiapas Media Project/ProMedios (Mexico/USA), which she founded in 1998 in cooperation with the local community. The organization established indigenous community media centers where the communities produced their own videos that documented community life and the impact of militarization, human rights abuses, cultural and religious events, cooperatives and women’s work, some productions were in their own languages. The lecture will be followed by a screening of a video programme from the Chiapas Media Project/ProMedios archive together with two animated films, which she created in collaboration with a group of Cuban animators and musicians during the pandemic. At the November Video Evening with DIVA Station, we are hosting an engaged feminist artist and activist Aprilija Lužar. In her artworks, she deals with topics such as sexual violence against women, the position of women in society and lesbian artistic activism. Her most well-known work is the Women's Taxi project, a female artistic transport therapeutic campaign for women and girls who have survived various forms of sexual violence. On Wednesday, 29 November 2023 at 7 pm in Photon Gallery. At the October Video Evening with DIVA Station, we are hosting the painter and interdisciplinary Chinese-Slovenian artist Huiqin Wang, celebrating her 40th anniversary of living and working in Slovenia this year. In her many years of artistic practice, the artist pays special attention to the culture and history of the East and the West and the building of bridges between them. Her work is also characterized by numerous collaborations with various artists, which were either exhibited as video installations or the exhibitions and performances were recorded on video. We will present some of these projects on Tuesday, 24 October 2023 at 7 pm in Photon Gallery. More

BEAST International Film Festival presents the best cinema from Central and Eastern Europe in Portugal. This year, BEAST dedicates its Focus Country section to the exhilarating cinematic scene of Slovenia. The program director of the festival, Teresa Vieira, prepared a curated programme in two parts: DIVA — FEAST & BODY.
